8 Healthy Snack Ideas To Keep You Full

by Aaron Cookson in Education | Nutrition

Let’s be honest most snacks aren’t the problem.

It’s the “grab whatever is there” snacks that leave you hungry 30 minutes later.

A good snack should:
• Keep you full
• Help you hit your protein target
• Stop you from picking at random foods later.

Here are some easy sweet and savoury options you can grab from most supermarkets.

Sweet Snacks

Perfect if you have a sweet tooth but still want to stay on track.

1. High-Protein Yoghurt + Berries

150–200g Skyr or Greek-style yoghurt + a handful of berries

150–200 kcal | 15–20g protein

Simple. Filling. High protein. Tastes like dessert.

2. Apple + 1 tbsp Peanut Butter

180–220 kcal | 4–6g protein

Mostly whole foods. Great if you want something sweet and satisfying.

3. Banana + 20g Mixed Nuts

220–250 kcal | 6–8g protein

A more energy-dense snack but very satisfying.

4. Protein Bar (Grenade / Fulfil / Barebells / RX Bar)

180–220 kcal | 18–20g protein

Convenient for busy days. Not a “must”, but useful when you’re on the go.

Savoury Snacks

If sweet snacks aren’t your thing, try these instead.

1. Babybel Light + Grapes

120–160 kcal | 7–10g protein

Easy to throw in your bag. Portion-controlled. Great little combo.

2. Hummus + Carrot/Cucumber Sticks

150–200 kcal | 4–6g protein

Not super high in protein, but great for volume and keeping you satisfied.

3. 2 Boiled Eggs + An Orange

200–220 kcal | 12–14g protein

Proper whole food option. Simple and filling.

4. Beef Jerky

90–120 kcal | 15–20g protein

High protein for very few calories. Ideal snack on the go.

A Simple Rule to Follow

If fat loss is your goal:
• Aim for 100–200 calories
• Try to get 10–20g protein

If you’re maintaining or building muscle:
• 200–300 calories
• 15–25g protein

The main thing? Build your snack around protein first.

Whole foods should make up most of your diet but convenient options are absolutely fine if they help you stay consistent.

You don’t need “perfect”. You need practical.
